Managing Hair Fall: Causes, Treatments & What Actually Works

Hair fall has become increasingly common due to stress, nutrition deficiencies, pollution, hormonal changes, and lifestyle habits. Every individual normally sheds around 50–100 strands of hair per day. Hair fall may occur due to dandruff, fungal infections, thyroid imbalance, PCOS, vitamin deficiencies (especially Vitamin D, B12, and Iron), or hereditary conditions.

The first step in treatment is identifying the cause. A dermatologist may recommend blood tests to check nutrient levels and hormonal balance. Based on the diagnosis, treatment may include topical serums like Minoxidil, oral supplements, anti-dandruff medication, or targeted therapies.

One of the most effective modern solutions for hair regrowth is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy where the patient’s own blood is processed to extract growth-rich plasma, which is then injected into the scalp. Along with treatment, lifestyle plays a major role. Include protein-rich foods, leafy vegetables, nuts, and adequate hydration in your daily diet. Avoid excessive heat styling, harsh shampoos, and tight hairstyles that pull on the roots. Use a mild, scalp-friendly shampoo and oil the scalp gently without vigorous rubbing.

Hair fall is treatable, but early intervention is key. The sooner treatment begins, the better the outcomes and retention of natural hair volume.
